Cash Flow - Report
Cash in against cash out for a selected date range, with a running balance.
The Cash Flow report shows the money that actually moved in and out of your business during the selected period.
For the location selector, date range and CSV export, see Reports.
Cash flow is not profit
This report counts money when it moves. Inventory purchases are counted when you pay for them, not when the stock is later sold. A month in which you restock heavily can show a negative cash flow even if your sales were profitable.
To see revenue matched against the cost of the goods you sold, use the Profit & Loss report.
What is counted
- Income: transactions of type Inflow and Other Income.
- Expenses: transactions of type Outflow, Purchases, Refund and Supplier Settlement.
Transfer Adjustment entries, which record stock moving between your own locations, are not included. Deleted transactions are left out.
Income / Expense Chart
One bar per day. Use the Incomes and Expenses buttons at the top of the card to switch between the two; each button also shows the total for the period. When several locations are selected, each bar is split by location.
Net Cash Flow Chart
One bar per month: cash in minus cash out, including inventory purchases in the month they were paid for. A bar below zero means more money went out than came in that month.
Transactions
The table under the charts lists every transaction counted above, oldest first, across the selected locations.
The balance is a running total that starts at zero at the beginning of the selected period. It shows how cash moved during the period, not the amount in your cash drawer or bank account.
